I am still learning

Hi, I’m Thng Kok Wai — most people call me KW. I’m a part-time teacher based in Singapore.

I am old enough to remember life before the internet, young enough to still want to learn new things, and stubborn enough to believe that age is never an excuse to stop growing. And yes — my days are numbered, so I’d better move fast.

A few months ago I made a decision that most people my age would probably laugh at: I decided to learn AI, automation, and Python from scratch.

No computer science background. No coding experience. Just curiosity, stubbornness, and a slight fear of being left behind by people half my age.

Why did I do it?

Because I kept seeing younger people around me building things with AI tools, and I thought — why not me? Age is just a number. The tools are available to everyone. So I just started.

What am I learning?

It didn’t start with AI. I began with the basics — Git, GitHub, and debugging. Then I pushed myself further and completed a Data Science Bootcamp at Vertical Institute in Singapore. I built real Python projects — not perfect, but they worked.

Then I discovered n8n, a workflow automation tool that lets you connect apps and automate tasks without heavy coding. I’ve since built real, working workflows including an invoice verification system and a bank statement reconciliation workflow — both running in production today. I also built a free app using AppSheet, no traditional coding required, just logic, structure, and persistence.

Every week I learn something new. Sometimes it works perfectly. Sometimes I fail completely. But I keep going.
